With over two dozen lecturers, technicians, administrators and researchers, a large undergraduate contingent and a substantial population of Masters and Doctoral students, Cardiff is the largest archaeology department in the region and one of the longest established in the UK.
UCLan offer a new BSc (Hons) degree in archaeology that combines hands-on practicals with lectures and fieldwork. Particular specialisms include the study of prehistoric artefacts, past perceptions of landscapes, human evolution, and the protection and interpretation of important archaeological sites.
Rated as one of the top 100 universities in the world, Durham’s archaeology courses cover a wide range of topics. The department runs training excavations in Co Durham & Northumberland. Fieldwork projects in Syria, Romania, Egypt, France and India as well as in the UK.
Undergraduates can study either history of art or archaeology, anthropology and art history in the School – and the joint degrees let you combine art history with other subjects at UEA.
Students may study for a BA in History with Archaeology; or Welsh History with Archaeology; or Heritage, Archaeology and History. We concentrate on the archaeology of Britain, Ireland and Europe from the Prehistoric to the end of the Middle Ages.
Courses include British, European and Mediterranean prehistory, prehistoric & protohistoric Near East, underwater archaeology and environmental archaeology. Runs excavations and surveys in Scotland and abroad (currently in Cyprus, France and Slovenia).
The School welcomes all those who have an interest or passion in things archaeological and, or geographical that they wish to develop in an academic way.
Exeter has approximately 250 students in total, and currently offers five undergraduate programmes in Archaeology, and five taught Masters programmes.

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Courses offered in Archaeology leading to Degrees of MA or BSc or MLitt. GUARD is the research and contract section of the department and provides archaeological services at all levels (desk studies, field surveys, excavations, etc).
