Penk Valley Archaeological Group

1 min read

This small group was established after the discovery of a Romano-British villa site in 1984.
Excavations have since been ongoing, Sunday’s only, most of the villa building is inside the confines of the village church, but an apsidal wing and two sides of a ditched enclosure are available. Iron age features, postholes and gullies are also present, together with Neolithic pottery and flints. Nearby a double ditched, probably Neolithic, feature has been discovered by geophysical survey.
