Comprehensive social programme, monthly talks through Winter months and site visits in Summer. Field Walking on Sunday mornings in winter. Recent work includes a major resistivity survey on the site of Ampthill Castle and other sites in the area using the TR/CIA resistivity meter. Past excavations are being written up.

Programme of events and day schools and an annual symposium.

Welwyn Archaeological Society

Programme of lectures and outings. Publishes newsletters and bulletins. Carried out excavations on two ditched enclosures and members have been assisting the Roman Building Trust. Continuing fieldwork and processing of finds. Fieldwork and excavation at weekend or if there is an emergency.

FARI Archaeology

A volunteer unit designed to investigate and promote the archaeology of the Newark area whilst at the same time training members to a professional standard in all techniques of archaeological investigation. Woolhope Naturalists Field Club – Archaeological Research Section

Monthly meetings to investigate new or inadequately recorded archaeological sites in Herefordshire and neighbouring counties. A twice yearly newsletter is published with news and events. Also publishes an annual journal recording the results of investigations & carries out documentary research.
