Larne Archaeological Society

1 min read

The society was founded in 1998 to research, record and protect the ancient past of the Larne area in Northern Ireland.  A local Iron Age Hillfort and early Christian Rath  have been given SMR numbers thanks to  work carried out over the past years.

Research on four other possible new sites,  which may or may not be given SMR numbers in the future is on-going. These include a medieval church and burial site, a megalithic tomb, a souterrian and a booley settlement.

Fieldwalks and talks take place over the summer months.
