The Friends of the Newport Ship (S.O.S.) is a Registered Charity formed in 2002 to promote knowledge and information about the Newport Mediaeval Ship and to foster an appreciation of the maritime and industrial heritage of South Wales. The Association aims to provide a forum for debate, monitor progress on conservation of the vessel and contribute to the promotion of Newport’s rich heritage. The Friends are active in lobbying, organising academic courses, lectures, day schools and field visits. Individual subscription (2006) is only ?5 (single) renewable annually on 23rd August.
