ulsterThe Ulster Archaeological Society is a charitable organisation open to all. Its aim is ‘to advance the education of the public in archaeology and history, particularly in regard to Ulster’. The Society organises a programme of free public lectures, as well a summer field trips to interesting sites, led by professional archaeologists. The society also provides opportunities for members to participate in archaeological fieldwork, such as surveys of historic monuments, archaeological excavations and surface artefact collections. The Society publishes the Ulster Journal of Archaeology (founded in 1853) and a quarterly newsletter.
