Curator for Bedfordshire. Maintains computerised Historic Environment Record and provides archaeological advisory service, including planning advice and site management.
The County Archaeology Service manage the Sites and Monuments Record and provides advice on the impact of development proposals on land-based, coastal and maritime sites. We implement the Portable Antiquities Scheme and undertake large research projects including Community Archaeology at Yaverland and the Wootton-Quarr intertidal research project.
Curator for Shropshire. Maintains a computerised Sites and Monuments Record as part of a broader environmental database. Provides advice on planning issues and general land management. SMR database recently moved onto Exegesis system and SMR mapping in process of being digitised on Arc view GIS.
Curator for Somerset. Maintains computerised Historic Environment Record which is available online. Provides planning advice and runs the Peat Moors Centre with its Iron Age reconstructions. Runs annual training excavations for local residents.
Curator for the Scottish Borders. Maintains computerised Sites and Monuments Record. Provides advice on planning and forestry. Develops public access and interpretation, including publications in the Borders Heritage Series.
Following restructuring there is no longer a post of national park archaeologist.
