Excavation at Battle Hill

The newly discovered Iron Age Rampart under excavation (Murray Cook)

The Battle Hill Prehistoric Landscape Project is the 19th Season of research into Aberdeenshire’s prehistoric settlement patterns and will explore a Neolithic Cairn, a possible Bronze Age Cairn, an Iron Age Hillfort and Early Medieval material.

The project is open to students and volunteers over the age of 17, and the price includes accommodation, food and transport to and from site.

All tools provided.

The training is relaxed and easy going, and volunteers will have the opportunity to excavate archaeological remains that have never been examined before.
