Excavating Tudor history. In our fifth and final season of the Bradgate Park Fieldschool we will be focussing attention on excavating the childhood home of Lady Jane Grey: the nine days Tudor queen. Our previous excavations within Bradgate House revealed that there is an earlier stone phase beneath the standing brick ruin.

Our excavations this summer seek to resolve whether this earlier phase was in fact the childhood home of Lady Jane Grey and that the brick structures represent a later remodelling.  During the excavation you will receive training and practice a range of archaeological field skills including: excavation, recording, finds processing and environmental sampling.
