British Archaeological Awards results

The results are in: the winners of this year’s British Archaeological Awards were announced today (9 July) at the British Museum in London, with some prizewinners whose names are bound to be familiar to readers of  Current Archaeology.  Particular congratulations go to the Must Farm excavation team, whose project – which unearthed the stunning Bronze Age boats featured in  CA 263 – won two prizes.

Best Archaeological Project: Must Farm (see CA 263)

Best Archaeological Book:  Gathering Time: Dating the Early Neolithic Enclosures of Southern Britain and Ireland, by Alasdair Whittle, Frances Healy and Alex Bayliss (see CA 259)

Best Public Presentation of Archaeology:  Time Team  series 18 episode 1, ‘Reservoir Rituals’ (in a former life our Editorial Assistant Carly was the researcher on this dig, which was also  Time Team‘s 200th episode – see CA 252 for our Time Team special)

Best Community Archaeology Project: Museum of London Archaeology Thames Discovery Programme  (see CA 244)

Best Archaeological Innovation: The Archaeology Data Service grey literature library

Best Archaeological discovery: Cambridge Archaeological Unit at Must Farm (see CA 263)

Lifetime Achievement Award: Mick Aston

  1. Love Time Team – from Sydney Australia- But miss the old team We’re very sad that Dr. Mick Aston is no longer there .Please,Please reconsider and where oh where are Helen and Stewart????????
