Central archive of information about war memorials in the United Kingdom. As well as documentary research, fieldwork is carried out to survey and record the memorial sites. The Inventory’s database, containing much of the information collected, is now available for public access in the Reading Room of the Imperial War Museum. Access is by appointment only. The second edition of The War Memorials Handbook is also now available via mail order through the Museum. It provides information on the care and conservation of memorials as well as a history of the Project and memorialisation in general.
