The small but well-established group was formed in 1982.
They meet once a month in Wigan for lectures and discussions on topics of historical or archaeological interest. We have trips in the summer and carry out fieldwork during the year (including excavations).
Over the years the society has carried out a number of field projects within the Wigan district.
