Local group of the Surrey Archaeological Society. Covers much of the North Downs in Surrey. Long-term research excavation on Sunday mornings May to October on multi-period – mainly prehistoric – site in Banstead, Surrey. Winter fieldwork includes landscape surveys, fieldwalking usually concentrating on Lower Palaeolithic sites. Publishes occasional bulletin. Group interested in all aspects of archaeology, especially lithics and ceramics.?10 membership per year for those just participating in fieldwork, while fortnightly evening meetings and occasional visits are available to full members (?15 per year) who must also be members of the Surrey Archaeological Society. Evening meetings are usually based on a pre-arranged theme, but are informal and free-ranging, often including subjects such as geology, local and industrial history, heraldry and artefact study sessions.
