The  North Craven Historical Research Group aims:

  • To encourage, promote and facilitate research into the history, archaeology and vernacular architecture of the area of North Craven which is centred on Settle
  • To provide research facilities for individuals, organisations and schools
  • To provide training in the techniques necessary to carry out research
  • To provide material for local organisations engaged in the promotion of the rural economy of North Craven (educational and leisure)
  • To provide a “drop-in” centre where the public can report finds and have Local Study queries answered.
  • To create and manage a computerised public archive of all primary and secondary materials relevant to the history of townships in the study area.
