Excavations at Toll Gate Farm Roman Site
Our dig at Toll Gate Farm Roman Site will be on Tuesdays and Sundays from June to the end of October. The site is near Rocester, in Staffordshire. There is no fee for digging apart from membership (£20 adult, £10 student) which is essential for insurance purposes.
The site is very exciting and has revealed an unknown Roman road, evidence for dwellings and probable blacksmithing, and huge numbers of artefacts, incuding leather shoes, pottery, animal bone and domestic items. There is also a very deep pit/well and at least two other pits.
