English Heritage Award for the Presentation of Heritage Research

englishheritage logo English Heritage Award for the Presentation of Heritage ResearchCurrent Archaeology is extremely pleased to announce that the English Heritage Presentation of Archaeological Heritage Research Awards will be joining us this year as part of the Archaeology 2010 conference at the British Museum, February 26-28, 2010.

This competition is designed to highlight the fascinating research being done in the heritage sector.

We aim to bring it out of monographs and specialist journals and to the attention of the wider public, whose understanding and support are crucial to the preservation of our heritage. Anyone who works, or has participated in, research on British and Irish archaeology, historic buildings and heritage conservation is encouraged to enter the competition.
Three prizes are offered: an open first prize of £1,500, a runner-up prize of £500, and an under-30 prize of £500.  Entrants should send in a completed entry form including a summary of their proposed presentation, not to exceed 750 words (up to two figures may also be included), to arrive no later than 15 November 2009.

Short-listed entrants will be informed by 20 December 2009. Each finalist will then give a 20-minute presentation on Friday 26 February 2010 at the British Museum as part of Archaeology 2010.  Finalists will be judged on the quality and interest of their research, and of their presentations, as decided by a panel of judges and the audience.

The competition will run all day on Friday 26 February as part of the Archaeology 2010 conference. There will be a reception on Friday evening, and the winner will be announced during the  Current Archaeology Awards  on Saturday evening, 27 February 2010.

• Anyone who has purchased a ticket to the conference will be able to attend, but must make a reservation when registering for the General Admission ticket. Tickets are not yet on sale–stay tuned!
• It is possible to attend the APHR lectures without purchasing a ticket for the full Archaeology 2010 conference. However, reservations are needed, which will be made on a first-come, first-served basis and can be obtained by calling 020 8819 5580 or emailing Lisa@archaeology.co.uk.
We look forward to a fantastic competition this year!
