North Cornwall Heritage are running archaeological excavations around North Cornwall on three sites from the medieval period, as well as providing surveying opportunities on other multi-period sites within the area. We will be on site between June 27th and July 12th and are looking for participants to come and join our existing team. No experience is necessary, so any interested parties are welcome.
We have been working in the area for the past 8 years. This year, our projects are focussing on academic research as well as continued local research and will increase our overall understanding of the wider landscape in and around the area of Bodmin Moor and Tintagel.
Our sites include:
NCH01 where work will be excavating once again a medieval settlement focussing on the earlier phases of the settlement and the relationship to the wider landscape,
NCH03 which will be continuing its focus on changing medieval field systems in the Delabole area,
NCH07 where we will continue excavation work on the site of a medieval military monastic order within the Blissland parish on Bodmin Moor.
Lectures are provided on wet days after finds processing and we always try to run trips to Tintagel, Roughtor and other local areas of historical and cultural interest. The cost of these is kept to a minimum, but contributions may be required. We (weather dependant) always aim to have a welcome BBQ on the first Sunday and a leaving party on the last Friday of the excavation.
Prices are £15 a day, including camping, refreshments, breakfast and lunch. For more information, please visit our website www.northcornwallheritage.co.uk or like us on Facebook for more regular updates: www.facebook.com/northcornwallheritage
