The past is constantly being re-written. Across the country there are hundreds of excavations going on. It’s back-breaking work in often tough conditions, but the findings are essential for our understanding of our past. Yet who has the time to visit them all and put their findings into context? We do! For 40 years Current Archaeology has been … [Read More...]

I am so gutted that this terrific show has been cut. One of the few shows of any quality now a days, yet those crappy reality shows keep going. We are creating a world of dim witted people. Shame on you channel 4 and shame on you for putting people on the show who know nix about archaeology.
Totally agree and thanks Debra.
Time Team, the best program on television and I have seen many of the shows since series 1, to the latest, being enthralled, excited, entertained, and educated, enjoying every show seen,. for gaining knowledge from the pioneering work done, and technical application of the archaeology.undertaken,to benefit historical importance.and enrichment of our heritage. The gateway to times past, least we forget. ..
More Time Team please -, reducing the lesser breed of inferior programs that haunt and infest our television, for others to appreciate,.
Totally agree with Christopher!
Such a shame, while these crap reality shows go on and on,really boring, shame on u ch 4
It is an absolute Travesty that this enthrawling and highly educational programme has been cut from our screens…. it should be considered a national treasure and be given backing for more, not getting the chop. This was just about the only programme that managed to stimulate my brain. I totally agree with Debra about us creating a world of dim witted people, i mean just look at how the majority of the youth of today are behaving already and no wonder if all we do is feed there brains with reality shows, such as Big Brother and Towie for goodness sake, absolute mindless litter! I agree with you Debra “Shame on you Channel 4″. Just want to say ‘Massive’ Thankyou to everyone that has been involved with ‘Time Team’ over the past 20 years for all the Passion, Dedication and hard work you put in, to bring us this much loved programme and for letting us enjoy it all with you!
Absolutely gutted over this decision. Just recently returned from Australia (where the show is popular) after 8 years. Watched Time team from the very first episode, but must say the lack of advertising and underestimating the value of the core team has further facilitated the demise of this once great show. Missed half the last series simply because I had no idea the show had started again! Forget Big Brother and other SILLY pathetic programs and bring back time team with the original members where possible!
Horrified that yet another good program is axed, how like many things in life that the public actually like and respect (ie NHS, Time Team, buses, Welfare State, Postal Service) the power that be ‘improve them’ and end up making them inefficient and inferior to the original concept THEN suddenly they are deemed unpopular/unused and either sold off or ‘improved’ further at great cost to the jolly old tax payer until that finally is gradually sold off. All the time millions of tax payers £s still get spend on war and foreign aide, it’s not rocket science to know for sure that the average tax payer would rather have good tv, great NHS and no more Benefits handed out to all and sundry arriving in what once was GREAT Britain.
I am still watching Time Team repeats iv got loads on my planner, what a fantastic way of learning about history, also the Time Team books are great including Victor Ambrus drawings of archaeology all excellent reading !!
