We’ve gone through the last 12 months of CA and picked out some of the sites, projects, books and personalities that have made an impression and generated feedback. The next step is up to you: we need your votes to determine who will be the recipients of the inaugural Current Archaeology Awards.

As part of Archaeology Festival 2009 in Cardiff, we are very pleased to announce the first-ever Current Archaeology Awards!
Every month, we bring our readers the top news stories, features and books from the archaeological world; and every month, we receive letters back from subscribers, letting us know how we’re doing and what kinds of things you’d like to see in the magazine. This year, we decided to turn things around a bit and let the readers decide what has been the best of the best in Current Archaeology.
Be warned – your opinion matters! These awards are our way of hearing back from all of you who have helped to make the magazine such a great success for the past 40 years. We hope you will join us in recognising the projects, people and books who have provided such fantastic and interesting reading this past year by casting your votes.
Finally, we are thrilled to have Francis Pryor, one of British archaeology’s most known and loved faces, as our master of ceremonies for this special evening. Please join us!
